The Instigators: Episode 21 – Montreal in Disarray

This week’s installment of the The Instigators: LIVE featured our main man BillyJ moderating the discussion between Jack and Brick. Mark Mowers tagged along again as well.
Montreal finally fired GM Pierre Gauthier ending his puzzling tenure. Gauthier was promoted to GM in February 2010 after Bob Gainey stepped down. In his first full season, Gauthier's Canadiens finished 6th in the Conference and made the playoffs but were eliminated in seven games by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins in the first round. It was pretty much all downhill from there.
The move officially begins the rebuild in Montreal, which will be no easy task. I am not sure how many prospects they have on the rise, but there are few players on the Montreal roster that you would want on your team. Maybe Pacioretty, Cole, or Plekanec. With a legitimate NHL defense, Price could return to form, but it might be a while before the Canadiens have a legitimate top-6 blue line corps. This whole mess couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of clowns.
The Canadiens are last in the Eastern Conference with a 29-34-14 record and have been eliminated from playoff contention for some time.
