BU Basketball Only Boston Area School Dancing This March

Posted by on

When I opened up the paper I saw the BU Men’s Basketball team celebrating the announcement of their match up against the Kansas Jawhawks from T’s Pub. I never thought I would see a day when the BU Men’s Basketball qualified for the NCAA tournament while the BU Men’s Hockey team stays home, but here we are. Just look at Rhett dancing in the basketball jersey; it is so weird not seeing him in the hockey sweater. I know there are a couple of wild scenarios where BU hockey could still qualify for the final sixteen, but those scenarios are extremely unlikely. BU hockey does not deserve to be invited the way they played down the stretch. Give their spot to Merrimack, they might not be good again for another twenty years.
BU Basketball earned their trip to the big dance with a thrilling come from behind 56-54 win against the Stony Brook Seawolves. Senior John Holland made two free throws with less than three seconds left to give BU its first lead of the game and clinch the championship. You can read more about the Championship Game HERE but trust us, it was a good one. The last time BU won the America East championship was 2002.
Tip-off is scheduled for this Friday at 6:50 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A #16 seed has never defeated a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament, but one of these years it is bound to happen. We hope it is this year. Kansas alum Paul Pierce has predictably guaranteed a victory for his alma mater. From what we’ve seen, Kansas has been favored between 22.5/23 points, with the over under at 135.5/136 points. Unfortunately we cannot pick BU straight up for the win, but we like the Terriers to cover and the under. We do not care much for college basketball, or college sports in general outside of men’s ice hockey, but we LOVE gambling. So thank you NCAA, may your crooked ways never be brought to light.
